Neuroplasticity

You might hear the word neuroplasticity being mentioned by various people throughout your treatment for any type of brain injury.

What is Neuroplasticity?  It means the way the brain behaves and its ability to recover after it has been injured or damaged. Damaged brain cells can’t grow back, but other parts of the brain can take over and create alternative networks.

What does this mean for you? It means that you can recover lost skills such as walking, talking and balancing.  Rehabilitation is the process that uses this  natural process to facilitate your independence.
