Frequently Asked Questions

Occupational therapy assessment, treatments, painting

These are some frequently asked questions. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, please Contact us.

We normally will complete the assessment in the comfort of your own home, school or workplace.  Due to Covid-19, we will endeavour to complete most of our fact finding via the telephone or web call.  Please refer to our Covid-19 information page for more details.

Referrals can be requested from anyone (individuals, carers, family members, housing associations, Case managers, GP’s etc). Please ensure that permission or consent has been granted by the individual being referred prior to making a referral.

Short answer is NO. If you have identified a problem and would like assistance with addressing this issue, then please contact us.  Please note – We do not diagnose but can help with supporting information if needed.

The length of the assessment is dependent on what was requested and how detailed the assessment and/or report needs to be. An average home assessment for basic needs takes approx. 45 – 90 mins whilst an in depth Paediatric/Children’s assessment can take between 3-4 hours which is split over 2-3 days.

We will write up and submit a report as per needs, which would include a detailed step-by-step action plan with estimated timescales of input within 5 working days.  At this point, and if you agree, we can continue with the recommendations.  If not, we can end all our involvement – you are not tied into following through with any our recommendations.

As we serve a variety of needs and different specialisms, we will do a free initial consultation and evaluation of your needs.  We will submit a quote to you and await your response on whether we will go ahead with any assessment or treatment.

Payment – Payment can be made by BACS transfer, cash, debit and/or credit card, and is due before or on the day of the treatment.  We may withdraw our services at any time if payment remains outstanding. Payment schedule is different for case managers and law firms – please contact us for further details.

Travel – Travel to and from the assessment/treatment site will be charged at 50p per mile (1st 10 miles not chargeable) and up to £45 per hour.

Cancellation – There is a 50% charge for appointments that are missed or cancelled less than 24 hours before the scheduled date/time.

The duration of our involvement will depend on the individual’s needs and the specific outcome goals. In certain situations, a basic assessment with an action plan and review is all that is needed whilst in other cases an assessment, a 6-8 weekly sessions and a review is needed.  There are others who may wish for further ongoing support.

However, the choice is always yours — you are not locked into having further sessions, as we believe that you know what’s best for you and your family.

All aids and equipment are for self-purchasing.  However, we can provide details, costs and demonstrate the use of these.  We can signpost you to sources of acquiring this equipment and liaise with the various sources on your behalf.  We are not affiliated with any company and will not recommend any company above any other – we will only look for products that meet your needs.
